Overview
Should a disaster happen, then what would be the steps in declaring this with Cyber Fortress? This article will highlight how the disaster declaration process works.
What is a Disaster?
Disasters can be defined as disk crashes, power failure, human error, ransomware incidents, and natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, fires, tornados, or earthquakes – all of which have the potential to stop the flow of data at one or more of your facilities.
How Do I Declare a Disaster?
A disaster declaration is a major event and should be done so only in the event of an emergency where extended downtime is expected. The call-out fee for a disaster declaration is $1,500.00, billed to your organization upon submission. To submit and declare a disaster, please call toll-free: (855) 456-0332 or email support@cyberfortress.com.
How Do We Get Our Machines Back Online?
After you have declared a disaster, Cyber Fortress will engage and begin the restoration process. For workloads protected via replication, this will likely mean initiating a full-site failover. For workloads protected using backup, this will likely require a call with the customer in order to decrypt the backup chains with an encryption key. After decryption, backups will be restored into working VMs.
How Do We Access Our Recovered Machines?
There are several possible ways to access workloads once they have been recovered into the Cyber Fortress environment, including:
- VM Console access via VMware Cloud Director
- Site-to-site VPN configuration
- Point-to-site VPN configuration
